Cari Amici del cinema italiano,

siamo molto contenti di inaugurare un nuovo “Italiensk Filmforum”, reso possibile dall’impegno dell’Istituto di Lingue, Letteratura e Cultura dell’Università di Århus, dal nostro caro cinema Øst for Paradis, dall’Istituto Italiano di Cultura a Copenhagen, che ci fornisce i film, e della sempre attiva Dante Alighieri di Århus.

Il programma di quest’anno propone una panoramica di film recenti, apprezzati in Italia ma poco noti all’estero.

Vedrete film di grande bellezza visiva, ambientati tra la Puglia di La seconda notte di nozze, la Bologna degli Anni Trenta del Papà di Giovanna, la Roma del Seicento di Caravaggio, la Cremona di La febbre,  l’Umbria di Uno su due.

“[...] it was a relief just to encounter a film about real people involved in situations one could care about. ‘One Out of Two’ (‘Uno su due’) is about chances and it takes some chances itself, risking banality or sentimentality, and coming through with a film worth seeing. The lives and people Cappuccio depicts are plausible, and he makes them engaging and specific. His ‘I Truly Respect You’ was shown in the series two years ago, a corporate comedy about alternative lives. This time the contemporary urban existence is again in the foreground, but this is about one man, his life, and what he can do with it.”

Il Caravaggio di Angelo Longoni permette allo spettatore di immergersi in un 1577 del tutto credibile, tridimensionale, intersecando sapientemente immagini da set e scorci “ripuliti” della Roma reale.
Non a caso due grandi nomi dell’universo cinematografico (e non solo) si sono coinvolti nella realizzazione.

Le musiche sono firmate da Luis Bacalov, premio Oscar per la colonna sonora de Il postino del compianto Massimo Troisi, che riesce a conferire una certa profondità al girato anche attraverso la parte extra-diegetica del sonoro, cosa tutt’altro che semplice per un’opera del genere.
La fotografia porta l’illustre nome di Vittorio Storaro, uno dei grandi maestri mondiali del settore, fidato collaboratore di registi del calibro di Bertolucci, Argento, Coppola, Schrader, uno dei pochissimi, se non forse l’unico, a potersi confrontare senza timore reverenziale con un pittore che della luce e dell’inquadratura “fotografica” ha fatto uno dei suoi punti di forza, umano ed artistico. Il sotterraneo e costante lavoro di Storaro, la coreograficità di alcuni suoi scorci, che è punto di assoluta evidenza per chi come noi ha potuto visionare l’opera su un grande schermo, purtroppo verrà dispersa sullo schermo televisivo. “From beginning to end, an extraordinary movie. It’s a poem translated into film. The nostalgia for the old times is subtle and appropriate, enveloping every scene almost with pervading accuracy. The post war Italy, practically derelict and on its knees, where everyone is trying to survive no matter how and yet life goes implacably on. Every frame is perfection. The script is simply delicious, so different, so quietly developed and so attractively displayed for our enjoyment, compelling us to be interested in the life of every single character. And the Italian language spoken with such precision and accuracy that not a single word is lost or missed, by the whole cast! Katia Ricciarelli –the well known Italian soprano– as a fantastic actress here, playing the mother of a not very nice character –Neri Marcorè, splendid–,a son totally devoid of any standards of morality. The half wit in this tale, fantastically portrayed by Antonio Albanese; the two old ladies, with incredibly beautiful and robust voices –Marisa Merlini and Angela Luce– etching two impeccably funny characters. Robert Madison –Enzo Fiermonte, the once flash in the pan new promise of the screen– believable in a very difficult role (he’s the son of Guy Madison) and of course, the Director –Pupi Avati– of this miraculously simple and embraceable film; yes, embraceable because it’s like and old friend, with scenes and dialogues that we already lived in another life, in another era, like a sudden smell that brings golden memories to the present. What an excellent touch Avati has to produce a truly different and natural story with every day life components and yet passionately absorbing! A must in my agenda.”
